Dr. Quattlebaum was elected Chairman of MetaMorphix®, Inc. in 2001 after serving as its President and CEO since 1999 and President since January of 1998. Dr. Quattle­baum has more than 25 years of agricultural industry experience, much of it within the biotechnology sector. He served as President and CEO of biosys, Inc., the second-largest producer of biological pesticides, from 1995 to 1997; and as its President and COO from 1992 to 1995. From 1987 to 1992, Dr. Quattlebaum worked with Rhone-Poulenc, a French pharmaceutical and agricultural chemical company, where he held several key executive positions, including Global Business Manager for the company’s foliar insecticide business in Lyon, France, from 1987 to 1990; and Director of North American Manufacturing Task Force from 1990 to 1992.

Dr. Quattlebaum began his professional career with Union Carbide Ag Products Company, with which he held a number of ascending positions including Director of Development. Dr. Quattlebaum currently serves on the Food and Agricultural Governing Board of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and has served as a member of BIO’s Board of Directors from 2000-2004.  Dr. Quattlebaum was also a member of BIO’s Executive Committee and Vice Chairman of BIO’s Food and Agriculture Governing Board from 2001-2003. Additionally, he sits on the Clemson University Research Foundation Board and is a board member of InsectiGen, Inc. in Athens, Georgia. Dr. Quattlebaum received a B.A. in Biology from Catawba College , Salisbury, NC; and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Entomology from Clemson University.
