Thomas P. Russo joined MetaMorphix®, Inc. as its Executive Vice President and CFO in June, 2004. Mr. Russo has over 30 years of experience with domestic and international public and early and later stage private companies. Prior to joining MMI, Mr. Russo was the CFO of Chesapeake PERL, a small biotech start-up, since 2004. Prior to C-PERL, he was the CFO for Stem Cell Preservation Technologies. Prior to that, he was a Principal with Advisory Associates, Inc. a firm advising CEOs and CFOs seeking funding. From 2000 to 2002, Mr. Russo served as the Chief Financial Officer for Entremed, Inc. From 1995 to 2000, he was a Principal with Ernst & Young where he served as the National Director, Infrastructure and Project Finance, for E&Y’s Capital Market Group, assisting CEOs and CFOs in IPO preparation, financial restructurings and M&As. Concurrent with his tenure at E&Y, Mr. Russo was a CFO of a start-up company, Global Plasma Systems. Mr. Russo was a Principal with The Travis Group, an international financial consulting firm from 1992-1995; and from 1990-1992, he utilized his extensive expertise in international arenas to aid Bechtel in structuring and financing projects worldwide for the company’s clients.
After graduating from
Georgetown
University
in 1972, Mr. Russo spent over 17 years with the World Bank He holds an MBA from
George
Washington
University
and participated in
Harvard
Business
School
’s corporate. Currently, Mr. Russo sits on the steering committees for both the Maryland Hi-Tech Council and the Washington/Baltimore chapter of the Association of Biotech Financial Officers.
